Herbal Teas: A Delicious Way To Enjoy The Benefits Of Herbs

If you are reading this article, you probably already know that herbal teas are not only a tasty alternative to highly caffeinated teas but are healthy ways to hydrate and may provide a variety of medicinal benefits. In fact, these blends are not actually “teas” if they do not contain any of the Camellia sinensis (tea) plant but are actually referred to as “tisanes.” A tisane is a beverage steeped from a variety of herbs, spices or dried fruits. These can be single herb tisanes, for example peppermint tea, but are often an intricate blend of several complementary herbs and botanicals. Although we acknowledge herbals are not truly teas, like most people, to simplify we do refer to these herbal blends as “tea.”  While herbal teas can provide a wide range of health benefits, it’s important to remember because they are plant based, they can trigger allergies in some people.

Choosing An Herbal Tea

Here at Woodland Teas, we carry a full line of herbal teas. We have single herbs such as peppermint, nettle, moringa and chamomile. Popular blends Cold Chaser and Stress Blocker are also best sellers. Because we both enjoy herbal teas we have developed a line of Woodland Custom herbal blends: Moonlight in the Woods, Woodland Sunset, C-Boost, Cough Calmer, Elderberry Patch and more. We will feature these original blends in a future post.

Choose Organic AND Local Tea!

We are also pleased to offer a line of organic and wild crafted blends from Natural Hope Herbals, located here in central PA. Natural Hope Herbals, in Millersburg, PA, is a locally owned company that grows, dries and blends their own line of herbal tisanes/teas. Their numbers speak for themselves! They grow approximately 50 acres of FDA certified organically and sustainably grown herbs. They have harvested over 25,000 pounds of herbs for their 200+ products. Beth and I were able to tour their farm and drying facility, and we can say it is truly impressive!

Natural Hope Herbal Teas have been some of our family favorites, and we are excited to offer a variety of their blends. Two of their blends, Organic Lemon Ginger and Organic Indian Spiced Chai, actually hit the Woodland “Top Ten Teas” sold in 2024. Natural hope has a mix of organic, certified organic and wild crafted organic herbal blends. Some blends do contain antioxidant rich organic green tea and therefore contains a small amount of caffeine.
